Hello!
We are three Nordic students who would like to help our non-European fellow students !
Our school has an international and diverse profile – inviting people from all over the world to join the school.
In our school more than half the students are non-Nordic;
far most, non-European either.
Gathering people from near and far brings a dynamic that is invaluably rewarding to our education and lives in general.
Every non-European student at Norwegian educations needs a study permit.
Every year this study permit needs to be renewed.
The application fee was - until recently – 2400 NOK
This is solely an administration fee.
BUT
December 20th 2017 the Norwegian State announced that this application fee, starting January 1st 2018, would increase from 3200 NOK to 5300 NOK -
An increase of 2100 NOK or 65 % of the original amount.
This is a big increase of an amount that is already a lot of money just to get one's papers looked through.
We want to help the people we share our everyday, teachings and education with!
We hope to receive help with finding the additional money for them to pay the Norwegian state
-
But also to create awareness on this very embarassing and regrettable decision of - via a completely disproportionate increase - sending a signal that our friends and colleagues aren't welcome.
With the new rules it is questionable whether the next generations will get to experience the dynamic and amazing input studying with people from all kinds of places and cultures brings.
We are sad and embarrassed of the fact that our governments are trying to push out foreign students, our friends and colleagues, to go home or seek education elsewhere.
We think this sudden increase expresses a tendency. It sends a clear message of the government's attitude towards Norwegian educations:
They want to limit the number of foreign students.
This is a giant loss for the educational institutions !
Help us support a diverse study environment on the Norwegian educations !
Thank you so much for taking your time to read and consider this !!
Any amount is helpful !
To help us get the word out, you are very welcome to forward or share the link on your social media
