After reading Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green, our middle school class at The Premo School was moved by the stories of those affected by TB. Following John Green's example, we decided to take action to help relieve and support people living with tuberculosis. TB is a curable disease, but depending on where someone lives, they may not receive the medicine needed to stay healthy. We are raising funds to donate to the National TB Coalition of America (NTCA), which works to protect public health by supporting the elimination of tuberculosis across the United States — connecting state, local, and community TB programs. By supporting NTCA, we hope to help ensure that more people have access to the treatment and support they need to overcome TB and live healthy lives. Part of The Premo School's mission is that our students grow in confidence and understand the power of using their voice for good. When students have the opportunity to look outside themselves, they understand that they are part of a larger community and that their minds and voices are important, valued, and needed. With the help of Dr. Erin Romano, a specialist in integrated biomedical sciences and immunology specializing in HIV and TB, our class has had an expert to help guide our understanding and make the biggest impact with our fundraising. Thank you for your encouragement and support!
