Students learning about Oklahoma Resilience

My name is Diane Walker and I’m an Oklahoma history teacher. As an educator, it is becoming harder for schools to provide money for field trips. The transportation costs have gone up this year and I’m trying to find money to take my students to the Oklahoma Bombing Memorial. I have gotten a grant to go into the museum and for my students to participate in a forensics class and listen to a first-person talk. The cost for transportation from where I live in Oklahoma is $1,000 one way, so I’m trying to raise $2,000 for transportation. My school is a Title One school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch due to the low socio-economics. This would be for 9th graders, some who have never been outside our town. To me, travel is one of the best educators, and with your help, I can take my students to a sacred place to Oklahomans and show them the resilience of our people and state.
