Student-Led Project - Quirky Auction :)

Chicas Malas Collective is setting up the quirkiest auction ever made. We definitely need your support (bling-bling) to do so. Your help is precious!

We are Gilda Cori, Zoe Mazzon and Inès Bron, three students in the last year of our bachelor's degree in Arts Management at the Goldsmiths University of London. As part of our final bachelor project, we are organising a "Quirky Auction. Let us explain to you why.

Auctions are usually associated with an elitist and inaccessible world where many audiences don't feel welcome. Our idea is to organise an auction where a relaxed, open, and engaging dialogue is created between the artists and the public so that everyone in attendance feels comfortable being there and, ideally, comfortable purchasing a unique work of art.

We realise how difficult it is for emerging artists to exhibit their work without incurring huge costs. Therefore, the primary motivation behind this event is to allow art students and emerging artists to present their work and sell it to our audience.

At the same time, it will allow the public to discover and become familiar with several young emerging artists and eventually acquire their work.

Indeed, the starting prices will be based on production costs and therefore remain relatively low and economical. This ensures that the students present at this auction interested in the art world can afford to purchase a piece of work they have fallen in love with. Perhaps the first acquisition of a newborn collection! Who knows?

During this auction, approximately 20 artworks made by fine arts and graphic design students and other emerging artists will be presented and put on sale. The artworks presented will mainly be print photographs, paintings and small sculptures.

All sales revenue will go directly to the artists whose pieces were sold. Indeed, we will not take any commission on sales. Also, entry tickets will be free to make everyone feel welcome at our event.

That is why we need your support.

The money raised will help us cover the Quirky auction's setup cost. Here are some of the expenses that your help will enable us to meet: venue hire, graphic designer, DJs, hanging process and the undertaking of setting up the entire event

All contributions will be acknowledged and thanked on the day of the event. Your name will appear exhibited at the auction unless, of course, you prefer to remain anonymous.

Quirky auction will take place at Viva, a bar in the heart of Dalston, a vibrant and creative neighbourhood in London, on the 4th of May, 2023.

Following the auction, there will be some DJ sets and a social.

We're looking forward to building this project altogether.
