I’ve worked two jobs, lived independently, and completed my first year abroad. I’m asking for help with one unavoidable cost that could determine whether I finish my degree.
Hi, my name is Starr. I am an international business student studying across three countries Paris, Sheffield, and soon Barcelona as part of a rare degree programme that awards three separate degrees upon completion.
I started university in 2024 at the age of 23. Choosing to return to education was deeply intentional. I wanted to change my future and committed fully to seeing this degree through, no matter how challenging the journey became.
I have already successfully completed my year in Paris while supporting myself entirely. I live alone, work two jobs, and receive no financial support from family or elsewhere. Everything I have achieved so far has come from persistence, long hours, and sacrifice.
Paris was manageable because the programme was split into shorter semesters across two years. This allowed me to prove funds for four months at a time and plan realistically.
In September, I am due to move to Barcelona for a full academic year, which is a required part of my degree. Spain requires a long stay student visa covering an entire year, with several mandatory costs that must be paid upfront. While I can support myself day to day, these upfront fees create a financial barrier at the point where I am closest to finishing what I started.
The funds raised will be used only for required visa and legal documentation costs:
ACRO police certificate: £68.00
ACRO police certificate Hague Apostille and Sworn
Translation: £110.00 + postage
French police certificate: Free
French police certificate translation: £45.00
Medical certificate: £65.95
Medical insurance: £483.18
Passport photos: £12.00
BLS appointment booking: £14.85
BLS visa appointment and processing: £386.94
Spanish TIE residence card: £150
Completing this degree means everything to me. It represents resilience, second chances, and a promise I made to myself when I chose to return to university at 23. Being unable to continue because of upfront visa costs would be devastating after everything already invested.
Every contribution, no matter the amount, goes directly toward mandatory visa and documentation costs and helps remove the final barrier between me and completing my degree in Barcelona.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this page is just as meaningful. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me in finishing what I worked so hard to begin.
