Student run racing team needs your help!

Hello, we are the Oxford University Motorsport Foundation.

We are appealling to you and everyone else who is interested in helping us out in the only student run and student funded racing team.

We race with the HRDC with our Riley 1.5 and Austin Healey Sebring Sprite and occasionally do some rallying with our sister Riley 1.5. You might ask why are you doing this? Well that's an excellent question. The foundation was set up in 2005 to give the engineering students in the Oxford area practical knowledge about engineering. The ever-growing gap in hands-on skills on engineering students is now more visible than ever.

Universities globally are cutting back more and more on practical teaching. This is confirmed by students and our sponsors who so often have had students with very little knowledge. But we are not only doing engineering. Running the team requires more than just doing the engineering skills, there is a whole lot of management involved as well! This is not only during raceweekends but also during the weeks before the race. We prepare our cars for every event, including inspection, repairs, packing, engineering and so much more. There is also the aspects of preparing for various shows we're invited to which are as imported as the races itself. During these shows is were we make our mark outside the race tracks. It is where we attract the all important sponsors and donors we so desperately need in order to continue.

When it comes to be successful in racing, testing is everything. During these test sessions, newly developed parts can be tested as well as developping new set ups. The testing days show any weaknesses with the car and give the driver a chance to give feedback and allow our young engineers to gain more confidence when racing.

Unfortunately, we are not able to fund these test days due to us being unfunded by the universities and relying on the kind donations of sponsors and donors. This sadly doesn't cover the costs of having a track to ourselves and testing the cars for a day.

Thats why we are appealing to you!

For the 2024 racing season, we are in need of a test day for our Sebring Sprite and Riley. In order to fund this, we're asking for donations to make this happen and make the 2024 HRDC season the best season we have had!
