Student on Ice Expedition 2018

This year I applied for the 'Student on Ice 2018 Arctic Expedition and was accepted to participate. However for this experience to happen, I need to fundraise to help cover some of the costs.
I am currently in Secondary III and achieving good grades. At this point, I am not sure which field I will go into in my future studies, however, like many of the youth today I am interested in our environment. Seeing other parts of the country, oceans, seas, Greenland and meeting people who are committed to the protection and preservation of land, sea, and animals/mammals would be significant for my future. Students on Ice takes place on a ship where we get to visit polar regions with scientists, experts, elders (Inuit), artists, historians, educators and explorers to give us better understanding of our world. With global warming to be such a major issue in our time, it is so important we get this hands-on research to share with our fellow youth, families, communities and leaders.
This will be an invaluable learning experience that will inspire me and others of my age to take back knowledge on the preservation and protection of our mother earth, much in the same way our people did before us.
