My name is Josiah, I’m 18 and a first-year university student. The cat you see in these photos is my baby, White Nose, and she was seriously injured after being let outside without my knowledge. She needed emergency care for a severe facial injury and fleas, leaving me with a $473 vet bill plus the cost of temporarily keeping her with me while she heals. As a full-time student working weekends at $10/hour, I can’t cover these expenses alone. Any help at all would mean the world to me and my kitty.

When I moved away for school, I couldn’t bring her with me since my apartment doesn’t allow pets. I left her in the care of my brother, who I trusted fully because of his previous experience with animals (both cats and dogs). My only request for him was that she stay indoors.

Unfortunately this was not the case, and he has been letting her outside unsupervised where he leaves her for hours at a time.

On Friday, October 3rd, sometime before 9 a.m., she was attacked. The vet determined her injuries were consistent with being kicked. Her nose was left split open, and one of her teeth was pushed into her nasal cavity. My brother didn’t tell anyone until nearly 2 p.m.

As soon as I found out, I made him bring her to me and rushed her to the emergency vet. She was thankfully treated immediately, receiving stitches, surgery, medication, and treatment for a flea infestation I also was left in the dark about. The total cost was $473.59, which I am now responsible for on my own as my Dad won’t allow me to request help from my brother.

I’ve set up this GoFundMe to help cover her medical bills and the cost of keeping her with me while she recovers. My landlord has agreed to let her stay temporarily for an extra $75 a month. I’m a full-time student and work weekends at a cafe making $10 an hour, and I’ve already missed my last two shifts to care for her, which puts me even further behind financially.
