An American teenager travels abroad to Greece for the first time with an unusual companion.
Synopsis
An American teenager travels abroad with her artist mother for the first time. Elizabeth and her furry pink companion face long layovers, longer flights, a group of international artists, new foods, and lots of cats.
A message from our student director, Gretchen Elizabeth
Recently I watched the documentary “This Changes Everything” on Netflix.
My producer (my mother) was concerned about the fact that female filmmakers have to fight so hard to get work in Hollywood, that only 1 Oscar-winning film director has been female, and that the female perspective in stories is so overlooked.
I think the time is right to support and encourage young filmmakers to take back our right to share our stories and connect with new audiences.
I have some filmmaking experience already, but I would like to become more involved in the art and film community.
I hope this film will open doors to college acceptance, scholarships, and most importantly, film festivals (see below for the film festivals I am planning on entering this film).
Why Greece?
My mother has been a part of Mudhouse Residency in Crete for a few summers, and her descriptions of the food and all the stray cats has interested me.
It also seems like a good, safe, friendly place to go for my first time leaving the US.

Budget
I have a budget goal of $9,000.
This includes the plane ticket, room and board in Greece, and entry fees into the festivals.
Of course this money will also go toward the materials and equipment needed to film abroad and animate my characters.
Some of these materials will include faux fur, clay, batting/tyvek, a small laptop, camera, lights, gels, cables, etc.
