Hi, my name is Alyssa Mitra, and I'm a filmmaker and future social worker based in Toronto.
I'm currently creating my thesis documentary film about pregnancy loss, a project that is deeply personal to me.
After my own experience with abortion, I began thinking about how often conversations around pregnancy loss are met with silence. So many people experience miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion, infant loss, and reproductive grief, yet many feel they have to carry those experiences alone.
This documentary gives people the opportunity to share their stories in their own words. My goal is simple: to create a space where people feel seen, heard, and understood.
Where Your Donation Goes
This fundraiser will support both the documentary and organizations that provide direct support to those experiencing pregnancy loss.
40% of funds raised will go toward:
* Studio and recording costs
* Travel expenses
* Post-production and sound design
* Film festival submissions
60% will be donated equally to:
Baby's Breath Canada, supporting families affected by stillbirth and infant loss.
Birth Mark, a Toronto organization providing inclusive support for those navigating pregnancy and reproductive loss.
Why This Matters
Pregnancy loss affects more people than many realize, yet it remains a topic that is often difficult to talk about openly.
My hope is that this film helps start conversations, reduces stigma, and reminds people that they are not alone.
By supporting this project, you're helping bring this documentary to life while also supporting organizations that provide care and resources to people experiencing loss.
Thank you for believing in this project! If you're unable to donate, sharing this campaign would mean the world to me.
