Student Doctor Ben's Top Surgery Fund

My name is Ben, and I am a trans man who you may have seen as a host on Talk Heathen and The Trans-Atlantic Call-In Show, and I am raising money for top surgery. Top surgery is a life-changing step in a trans man’s journey, which will allow me to be at home in my own body and will also allow me to perform the Army Combat Physical Fitness Test without difficulty breathing from the use of a chest binder.

I’ve been working towards this goal of top surgery since the beginning of my transition. I have already received guidance and a letter of medical necessity from my physician team and am ready to take the next step in scheduling the procedure. I am in medical school studying to be an Army doctor with a goal of surgery this December before entering active-duty service and my intern year of residency. I hope to pay it forward, provide gender-affirming care to other transgender soldiers, and advocate for their right to serve in the United States military.

The total cost of the procedure is expected to be $10,000 and is not likely to be covered by student insurance. Any extra funds raised beyond the cost of this surgery will be used towards bottom surgery. All contributions are appreciated, including financially and sharing out the link.
