Family, friends, book lovers, authors, colleagues and partners! My name is Harry, and I am a graduate of the Flinders University Creative Writing degree turning to the community to help give a chance for a group of young writers to show the world what we can do. For the last 12 months, a cohort of students and I have been working on a collaborative Anthology of short stories set in a shared world. The majority of us are graduates and are looking to put all of our knowledge into professional practice for the first time, so we ask for any and all donations to help us along our way. At the moment we have secured a large chunk of our funding through a donor and have lined up South Australian local publisher Glimmer Press to publish the Anthology. We have a goal of $5000, but our absolute dream would be to raise enough money not just for us, but for future generations of graduate Flinders writers so they too can get the chance to have their work published and see what life is like in our chosen career path.
We want to be the ‘Neighbours’ of Writing! A pipeline for future writers to showcase to their community all the skills they have learned, and everything else they bring to the table.
So please, share this to your socials! Drum up some support and let us take you into our world.
Need more convincing? Our incredible publisher, Glimmer Press, founder and chief publisher Lynette Washington had this to say about the Anthology.
“Last Call is an invaluable opportunity for the third year creative writing students at Flinders University. Through this experience students are going through an extensive, multi-stage editing process, learning about blurb writing, cover design, internal layout, launch planning and book distribution and selling. This opportunity is critical for any student wishing to pursue a career in writing or publishing. It also serves as an important part of the students' publication record and assists them to build their publication history.'
