On 1st April 2025, Stuart – a dedicated Paramedic Operations Manager from West Midlands Ambulance Service collapsed at the gym after suffering a devastating stroke. He’s just 50 years old, a fit family man, and a pillar of the ambulance community since 2002.

What started as a normal workout turned into a fight for his life. Thanks to a quick-thinking off-duty nurse and his own ambulance colleagues, Stuart was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where it was confirmed he’d had not one, but three strokes – affecting his speech and the mobility of his left side.

Stuart spent a week critically unwell. His wife Emma was told he might not survive. But Stu being Stu – a fighter through and through – battled through and began his recovery journey.

As a proud father to Edie (9) and Jonah (6), and a loving husband to Emma, Stuart is determined to regain as much independence as possible. But rehab funding won’t last forever, and their home needs major adaptations – especially the bathroom, which needs converting into a wet room so Stu can manage day-to-day life with dignity.

Stuart has dedicated 23 years to saving lives.

Now it’s time we show up for him.
