Help Stuart Minty get Treatment in Germany
Donation protected
In January of this year our world was turned completely upside down when devastatingly Stuart was diagnosed with stage 4 Linitis Plastica, a rare, aggressive & incurable stomach cancer. Currently on the NHS or privately in the UK there is only one treatment option available which is 12 rounds of palliative chemotherapy. Stuart has just had his 8th round of chemotherapy which means he only has 4 more rounds to go until there are no more treatment options open to him. Having responded so well to the chemotherapy over the past 4 months it’s difficult to understand how after the 12 rounds we just have to allow the cancer to grow & spread throughout Stuart’s body.
After extensive research (and a consultation with Prof Vogl) we have found a treatment in Frankfurt, Germany called TACE (Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization). It’s a cancer treatment where chemotherapy drugs are delivered directly to the tumor's blood supply through a catheter, followed by blocking the tumor's blood vessels to further inhibit its growth. Currently in the UK TACE is only used to treat Liver cancer however in Germany & other parts of the world it’s regularly used to treat many other cancers & Prof Vogl (although he can give no definite guarantees) is confident he can control Stuart’s cancer & prolong his life for longer than the very bleak prognosis we have been given by the NHS.
Stuart’s last chemotherapy session is scheduled for July 14th and Prof Vogl has said he can start treatment on Stuart 2-4 weeks after his chemotherapy ends which is great news.
Alongside TACE, Stuart can also have a high dose vitamin C treatment in the UK. At high doses, vitamin C undergoes a transformation within the body, acting as a pro-oxidant. This shift plays a crucial role in cancer treatment by enhancing oxidative stress within cancer cells, leading to cellular damage and promoting cancer cell death.
However obviously treatments like these come at a high price and while Stuart and I can fund some of the cost ourselves we are unable to pay for it in its entirety.
This is not an easy ask & I have debated whether or not to set up a GoFundMe but the reality is we need your help. Stuart is my world, he’s my everything and I can’t have there being any ‘what ifs’ on this journey. I need to know we have tried everything we can to keep Stuart with us & his 4 children for as long as possible. If you can help in anyway we’d be eternally grateful.
