My name is Stuart Houk, and I recently discovered that I have serious stage colon cancer. At 66, and,in what I'd thought was perfect health, this discovery took my life by storm.
I am a father of two, and a grandfather of two beautiful boys. It is my sincere wish to stick around awhile, and teach my grandchildren, to fish and ski. I have been absolutely blessed with a full life, spent both professionally, and recreationally, in the out of doors, teaching and sharing what I love.
I have recently had one serious surgery, from witch I am still recovering, and currently I am receiving radiation and kemo therapy treatments.This first surgery( lathroscopic colonostomy), isolated the tumor for further radiation/kemo therapy treatments.
The cost of all of this is staggering ! I'm so fortunate to have Medicare, which helps defray costs considerably ! But, obviously, I have a long road of recovery ahead, that will involve more surgery. I have the utmost in confidence in my surgeons, radiologists, and full medical team. Living in the state of Utah affords us all some of the finest medicine available in our great country. I am also most blessed to be surrounded by family and friends, for without them, my spirit would be broken.
