Stuart Fierman (Dad). My Hero!!

Donation protected
Hello. My name is David Fierman, and I am reaching out on behalf of my father Stuart Fierman (Shlomo). My father passed away recently, January 3, 2024 in my home. Stuart was 91 years old at this time. He was a great man!! He loved his family of 8, and worked really hard to be the best father and husband he could be. He unconditionally loved all 6 children. He was born in Brooklyn in 1932 and continued to live in NY until the day he passed away. His parents were immigrants who fled Europe during World War II. His mother passed away before turning 50 and his father died in his arms on a train in NYC.

There are sooooo many things I can share with you about my father. At the age of 18, he joined the US Air Force. He was a Korean War veteran, who became a sergeant in the United States Air Force, serving from 1949-1952. He was a true patriot. He was a peaceful man, who never interested in conflict.

He is a member a special group of donors. He has donated over 50 gallons (not pints) of blood in his lifetime, not including his donations of platelets through the process of apheresis. In 1988, he revived a young girl from drowning by performing CPR, this story was documented in the local newspaper, Times Herald Record of Sullivan County NY. My father was a "hero"!! He loved people and animals. Throughout his lifetime, he has allowed his children to adopt, never buy, many cats and dogs. He had a HUGE heart for all living creatures. He volunteered at many different organizations, such as People to People, Kiwanis, Blood Donation Centers, and many others. His passion for Judaism guided his life. Stuart and his wife Phyllis were members of 3 Synagogues at the same time. His was not a deeply religious man, but really enjoyed being a Jew.

My father eventually was diagnosed with Dementia and was no longer able to walk or care for himself. My wife became his caregiver 24/7. He lived with us until his body couldn't take it any more. He passed away peacefully at 10am on January 3, 2024.

My father was a simple man, who didn't let his life just pass him by. A man who loved life. A man who loved his family, his country, and would give a stranger his own coat to keep him warm. He lived a full and wonderful life.

Stuart was a religious man, who loved being a Jew. He was always involved with something connected to Judaism. This was his passion. He was a Conservative Jew who enjoyed going to Synagogue on Shabbat at the Mountaindale NY Synagogue. My parents have been members of this Synagogue for many decades. This Synagogue was built in 1917, and is in need of some serious work. The building is on the edge of a cliff and needs some structural work do to prevent it from "falling" into the river that's behind. The bathrooms are in horrible condition and need to be redone. The Hebrew Congregation of Mountaindale has very few members, leaving us in a bind with little options but to ask for help.

I am reaching out on behalf of Stuart to request any support for this project to save this Synagogue. Please help me answer my father's prayer. As a memorial, this is what he would have wanted. He loved the Mountaindale Synagogue and would never want to see it reach the point where it's condemned due to safety concerns. Help us save the Mountaindale Synagogue, so it can survive another century.

In advance, thank you for taking your time to read this. I hope you consider donating to this important fundraiser. I know it's a lot of money to raise, but every dollar counts.

Be well. My father feels the love and greatly appreciates your kindness.
