Struggling with No Income: Your Help Matters

Hey everyone!

As some of you know, I recently broke my shin and tore my meniscus. I was put on medical leave, which I thought would be OK because I pay into disability and should qualify for temporary benefits.

The situation has been anything but OK.

After applying and finding out i needed a state license or id i went to the dmv and after several visits i met another vexing roadblock!!

There was a mistake on my birth certificate with my name which prevents me from getting a ca ID and so now I can't apply for edd benefits until I fix it.

I'm currently in the process of changing my name so I don't run into these problems in the future. However, that is gonna take 3 to 4 more months.

I've now been going on 6 weeks without income. I was wary of doing one of these until they extended it another 6 weeks. Trying to live here for 3.5 months with no income is hard as heck. After several people suggested I make one of these, here I am.

I won't be returning to work until middle of March I hope.

This situation is a nightmare and I hope no one I know ever has to go through it.

It's been very frustrating a little scary and quite the headache!!!

Please help me so I'm able to pay my bills and cost of living. I have been sitting on making one of these because of my pride but as a smart friend said "your ego isn't going to pay your bills or put food in your stomach!"
