Struggling with Medical Costs After Syncope and Forced LOA
Donation protected
In September of 2024, I suffered a syncope episode while camping. After coming home and requesting accommodation for medical appointments arising, my place of work made the decision to put me on a LOA. Due to working with children, I understood the company’s decision, and at that time, was more than happy to take the time to heal. Since then, the medical complex hasn’t made it easy to get answers or treatment in a timely manner. After tests, devices, appointments, and lots of waiting, I’m still four months out from a neurological appointment with several other tests in the coming weeks.
Up until this point, my company has been gracious enough to take care of my insurance premiums, but that time has come to an end. We have been getting by, but the leave pay only lasts so long, the medical bills don’t stop, and this is just another thing that would make diagnosis and treatment that much more difficult.
If you know me, you know I’m not one to ask for help. I’m stubborn to a fault. But this is me, swallowing my pride, janky heart in hand, asking for help. I could really use it.
