Hi, my name is Joshua (JP.) Chee-Schmidt, and I’m reaching out because my family and I are facing a really tough time due to ongoing medical issues that have turned our lives upside down.

Over the past several years, my health has declined to the point that I’ve had to stop working completely. I’m currently in the process of applying for disability, but as many people know, that system moves painfully slow — and nothing is guaranteed.

Right now, the biggest challenge we’re facing is the mounting medical bills. Between specialist visits, tests, prescriptions, and treatments, the costs are adding up fast — and most of it is not fully covered by insurance.

Every appointment seems to bring another bill we’re not sure how to pay.

On top of that, we’re a single-income household. My spouse is doing everything they can to keep us afloat, but it’s simply not enough to cover both our basic needs and the medical expenses piling up. We’ve cut back on everything we can, but it’s just not enough anymore.

Here’s what your support would go toward:

* Unpaid and upcoming medical bills (appointments, medications, procedures)

* Essential living expenses (rent, utilities, groceries) while I’m unable to work

* Transportation to and from doctors and specialists

* Breathing room as we wait for a decision on my disability case
