In Need Of Help Due To Medical Issues

As of May 15th, I have been out of work due to an ovarian cyst that is on the verge of rupturing and my doctors refuse to do anything unless it starts leaking or bleeding.

My last check went mainly towards my medications they sent me home with that my insurance denied to cover, so I have no money for my rent, phone bills, or anything necessity-wise.

My main focus right now is to at least get the $450 for rent covered, the extra is for other bills to be partially paid or grocery/hygienic items, just to make sure my landlord isn’t put in a bad position. My mom has been helping as much as she can, but she’s about to get surgery and my father is now deceased.

I have applied for short-term disability, but it said it could be 2 days to 2 weeks before I hear something and my rent is due 6/30. If you have any advice, or at least share, I strongly appreciate it.

edit: I just got informed that my FMLA and Disability claim were received but I have a bunch of things to do, including paying my PCP $25 to fill out my paperwork since I can’t work. Even then, there’s a 15 day period where they cannot pay me if they decide it’s necessary.

Edit (6/2/25): My insurance is a qualified health plan, but it doesn’t start until July 1st. Until then, any medication or appointments/treatments will be paid through what I receive here if they aren’t excessively expensive. 

Edit (6/5/25): I got a call when I woke up (on the 4th, I’ve become a night owl) from my doctors office and I’m being referred to a minimally invasive surgery for my internal balloon. I haven’t been able to walk well, or sleep very well (my body waits till I can’t control it and I pass out) all due to the pain. I need help now more than ever since I won’t likely be returning to work as soon as I’d hoped. Thank you so much for the support so far. Despite how emotionally, mentally, and most definitely physically draining as it is, the support I’m receiving just in kind words mean the most to me because I can’t find the optimism in myself right now. 

Here’s to hoping for a quick recovery, and that I somehow find a way to pay my rent this month.

 

edit 6/28: im getting to a point walking is like hell on earth. I feel the cramps and pressure at all times. My preop is on the 1st, along with CBC to make sure my bloods ok, and then somewhere I have to do a stress test most likely as they’re planning to cancel my surgery if I don’t get it done. Issue there: I can’t handle the pain.
