Hello, my name is Eliana Roberts and I am 30 years old. I had my baby girl, Natasha, a year ago. This is incredibly difficult for me to put out there and admit we need help, but we do. I never thought things would take a turn like this, but we've run into financial issues over the past year and it feels like it's only getting worse. It's amazing how fast you can lose your income. My insurance refused to add her because I was a day or two late calling them to add her onto it (I was 30 days postpartum and sleep-deprived), which in turn led to them refusing to pay for her hospital bill that was originally $6,000. I fought and exhausted other options, but we were denied and turned away over and over again. This last year, our bills have doubled and now we're up to $12,000 in medical debt. We can barely afford to buy our own groceries or diapers without some help. I hate every single second of this. I work outside the home, as does my husband, and it's hardly getting us by. He's a mechanic and works 10-12 hours a day, but he gets flat rate and if he doesn't get any cars in the shop, he doesn't get paid. Because of the economy, we suffered greatly. I'm asking that we get some help to work towards this debt that's piling up. I want to get back up on our feet and get rid of this medical debt once and for all.
