Struggles don't last forever, strong families do!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Melissa and I am raising money to help support my family during difficult times. I am a single mom of two teenage boys trying to get by. If life isn't hard enough itself, it just got harder. Just last week I suffered an unfortunate injury to my hand that required emergency surgery. Due to this injury I will be out of work for the next 6-8 weeks. My job is my only source of income, and I have used up all my PTO. On top of my injury my car decided to break down as well. This unexpected event has now put a burden on paying my bills. Not to mention, being able to make the holidays Merry for my boys. They understand the injury, but as a mom, it causes me further stress knowing the holidays are coming. Any funds received through this GoFundMe, will be used for rent, groceries, utilities and car maintenance and if able after that, to provide a holiday meal and gifts for my boys. I am not one to ask for help, but these events have brought my spirit down being it the holidays and no income coming in. Life in general as a single mom is hard, but this unforeseen event, has made it feel impossible. Any donation will be beyond appreciated, anything will help. Please find it in your heart to help me provide for my family through this struggle, and even give them the holiday they deserve. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

The injury! Always make sure to look first when grabbing a knife...

Getting temporarily stitched up at the emergency room.

Oh, what you're a righty, good luck.

Getting prepped for surgery...

Who doesn't love hospital clothes...

They gave me a nerve blocker. I had absolutely no feeling in my entire arm, 12 hours after my surgery. That was the worst feeling ever and my arm felt like it weighed a 100 pounds. It just dangled.

Here's to the next 6 weeks. I have to learn how to use my left hand. Not to mention I have degenerative discs in my Cervical spine, which causes my left arm and hand to go numb and lock up. So this is going to be fun!

Shower time that was a task in itself...
One good thing that came out of all of this is now my kids have to do things around the house and help me out! I'm definitely sucking that up for the next six weeks!

My life, my everything, the reason why i'm doing this, is for these two handsome boys. As a mother and their sole provider, I would do anything to ensure they are taken care of.
Thank you all.

My sausage finger
3 1/2 weeks after surgery, when I was able to see what was under all those bandages.

My new contraption that I can only take off when I do my exercises or to take a shower. I have to make sure that my fingers stay bent at a 70°. And I am not allowed whatsoever to straighten my pinky finger. I get to wear this for the next 3 to 4 weeks.

4 1/2 weeks after surgery, nasty scab fell off. Still have no feeling in my finger. However, when I have to bend it for PT that does hurt, but the finger itself is tingley and numb. One week into pt a minimum of seven more to go.
