Hello everyone! Many of you are already on Mia's journey with us, and for those of you who aren't, our names are Krystal and Jamil, parents of Mia.

When Krystal was pregnant with Mia, we received news that no parents would ever want to hear. Mia would be born with chronic kidney disease and later need a kidney transplant.

Fast forward to 5 years later, multiple surgeries, and many bumps in the road. Mia's kidney was at its end, and she needed to start dialysis while we waited for testing on a match for her new kidney. Finally, we received the news.

Ten days ago, we traveled to Houston from San Antonio, and Mia received a life-changing gift from mom Krystal. That gift was a new kidney! Recovery was going well, and we never anticipated what was to come.

Yesterday February 24, 2022, we received news that Mia was suffering from a blood infection which will extend Mia's stay. Fortunately, the antibiotics are doing their job, and mia didn't take a turn for the worst.

Aside from life out here in the hospital, we had to leave our 1-year-old baby girl AriElle back in San Antonio with family. The stresses have been unimaginable and financially challenging.

We were hesitant because, as many of you know, we are not the ones to ask for help in any way. We had to come to the understanding that sometimes it's ok to ask for help. Whether you can or can't, we are forever grateful for any help that we can receive. The help we get will go towards expenses we need out here as well as any required in San Antonio for our baby girl AriElle.

There is no telling how long we will be here now due to the blood infection and the aftercare she will need when she is discharged. Unfortunately, we cannot leave Houston right away due to her having to be seen 2 to 3 times a week as a follow-up to her kidney surgery.
