StrongLikeJazzy: Brain Surgery & Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Jasmine is a sweet and fun  9 year old from Siskiyou County. Her parents, Dylan Hancock and Ashley Cordova, are also life long residents of the Weed area. Up until about 15 months ago, Jasmine was spending her time with her siblings, enjoyed school and loved to sing and dance.

Unfortunately, the last 15 months have consisted of debilitating and unexplained Epilepsy. Normal treatments didn't offer any relief and additional symptoms of weight gain and partial paralysis on her left side began. Local doctors were unable to discern the cause or best course of treatment, and Jasmine was sent to Davis Children's Hospital where she has spent the last 35 days.

Jasmine's debilitating symptoms are leading doctors to be suspicious that she has Rasmussen Encephalitis, a very rare and incurable neurological disease. The cause is unknown and the symptoms include frequent and severe seizures, loss of motor skills and speech, paralysis on one side of the body, inflammation of the brain and mental deterioration.

The last few months the seizures and symptoms have gotten considerably worse for Jasmine and she is now having breathing problems causing de-saturated oxygen levels. Doctors are running out of options and believe the best course of treatment at this time is brain surgery. While the surgery can help lessen the symptoms of RE, they carry their own complications. Jasmine will need to relearn how to walk, talk, eat and many other large and small motor skills.

During this time, Jasmine's parents are in need of financial support for her medical care the costs associated with caring for her. Her care has required both of them to devote their full attention to their daughter's health, and being so far from home hasn't made it easier. Work has had to wait to make sure that their daughter has what she needs, at whatever cost.

Through this all, Jazzy has not lost her spark. Even after spending 35 days and Christmas in the hospital she is still trying to make people smile and showing anyone that comes into her hospital room love. She is strong and full of life and if anyone can get through this, it's Jazzy.

Your donations will be used for:

Jasmine's medical care, travel costs to and from the hospital, financial support to Dylan and Ashley which will allow them to be with daughter during this time.
