Our sweet niece Eva, has been diagnosed with Lyme disease after a long road of misdiagnosed illnesses, unsuccessful doctor visits and hospital stays with no answers. What started as fatigue, pain, and struggling to participate in her basketball and volleyball seasons in late 2024, has turned into a daily battle that impacts her health, energy, and quality of life.

Eva means so much to our family. She is a big sister to three brothers, the oldest cousin to twelve, first granddaughter and niece. She has the biggest heart and brings so much love and joy to everyone around her.

For the past several months, we have watched as Lyme Disease has stolen her light. She has gone from a bubbly, energetic teenager, always baking us the most delicious gluten-free desserts and hand crafting the most thoughtful gifts for everyone around her, to bed-ridden and fighting to feel better everyday. We are thankful she has a diagnosis now, but know that she has a long road to recovery ahead of her.

Lyme disease is not only painful and exhausting—it is also often misunderstood and incredibly expensive to treat, with most treatments not covered by insurance. From countless doctor visits and lab tests to medications, specialized therapies, and travel to appointments, the costs have quickly added up, and will continue to throughout her fight.

Eva has an amazing support system around her. Her parents, Matt and Ashley, continue to advocate for her and work tirelessly to make sure all her needs are met, and she has the best care possible. Eva’s health struggles have been very hard on her entire family, including her three little brothers, but I’m amazed by their resilience. We all want nothing more than her to heal and be back to herself.
