The Carr Fire changed our community. Our entire team completely understands the trauma people experienced. We went through it ourselves.

And even though pain is a part of this life, so is hope & joy.

On the other side of the devastation, underneath the flames and ash, something amazing was revealed. Something existed in the hearts of our community prior to the fire. The fire simply revealed it.

This is the story we want to tell.

We share the experience of the fire, but more than that we focus on the amazing people who brought strength, generosity, courage, unity, compassion, humility and hope in the midst of adversity.

The shorter version of the film premiered to a sold-out crowd at the Redding Civic Center. This version will also make a circuit of film festivals throughout the country. However, the 35-minute time frame only allowed us to tell a fraction of the stories.

There is so much more to be shared.

To do this we need to expand the documentary to a full-length film of 90 minutes or more. This will allow us to not only tell the story more fully but also seek out online distribution through online streaming services like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu.

We believe this will also become a powerful outgoing message telling the world how amazing the people of the North State truly are. The 2017-18 fires affected so many of California’s beautiful communities. We believe this message of hope and resilience will resonate with many people as we all rise from the ashes to place of even greater beauty.


This project‘s initial budget of $40,000 allowed us to make the short film as a proof of concept.
 
A 90-minute film requires an even larger production budget. Funding is needed to license music & footage, film more reenactments, conduct more interviews, expand the edit, enhance the sound design, and ultimately market the film to the world at large.

This is PHASE 2 of our funding. While we ultimately require a full budget of $400,000, PHASE 2 of the funding will allow us to break ground on the feature film, with the short film as a firm foundation. A future PHASE 3 will comprise of another round of fundraising + other investment sources.

Who are we?



Speropictures is a local video production company, based in Redding, California.

We all live and work in and around Redding. Each and every one of us dealt with the trauma, displacement, fear, and loss as a result of the Carr Fire.

We also experienced the bright hope of our amazing community coming together to help and support one another in the midst of the devastation. We were there firsthand watching neighbors and strangers reaching out to one another to provide shelter, food and compassion.

We've dedicated our time and passion into developing & preserving this story, but we don't want to stop here. There's so much more to be told, and we're ready to keep bringing more of this story to light.

Budget Projections:

These are the projections for what we will need to complete the full-length feature documentary, to complete the project we will be needing to raise $400,000.

But for now, we are aiming to hit our first milestone of $50,000
