Once upon a time in a small community, nestled in the heart of Houston, there lived a teacher named Sylvia. Sylvia had been a teacher in the community for 22 years and dedicated her life to educating children and shaping the future of her community. She is a mother of three children, who transplanted to Houston from Chicago but still managed to be a pillar of strength in her community.
Sylvia was always the first person to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She is beloved by everyone in the Heights Love Elementary community for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her students and her community. Sylvia has also mentored several Love Elementary teachers and staff and has taken on many leadership roles on campus. Her contagious laugh and sense of humor struck the hearts of many students and staff members...and has been coined the Queen of the Chancla by her students.
But then, one day, Sylvia was diagnosed with cancer. She was devastated by the news, but she didn't let it break her spirit. Instead, she became even more determined to fight the disease and continue to be a source of strength for herself, her children, and her community.
Things are moving quite quickly and medical bills for a teacher trying to reach an unreachable deductible seem almost unattainable as the health plan to tackle Sylvia begins to add up. Let's get together as a community and assure Sylvia has the treatment necessary to continue to be a pillar in the Heights community.
Please assist us in making sure the treatment needed is a path Sylvia can take so she may continue changing the lives of countless students, no amount is too small!
