On December 9th, 2023 the Schneider family received the worst news imaginable. After two weeks of fevers, cough, belly aches, and fatigue their 6 year old, Owen James was diagnosed with Acute B Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Owen James is an extremely intelligent, loving, kind, goofy kid. He is the absolute best big brother to his 4 year old best friend, Wyatt Wayne. He is a Lego Master, a great artist, and a stellar student. This year his Christmas wishlist included “more kindness” and “for no people to ever get sick again”. His favorite colors are orange and gold and his favorite candy is Smarties.
Owen is expected to spend at least one month as an inpatient at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital receiving treatment and the next few years he will continue his battle at home. The prognosis has been extremely positive so far.
Billy, Abby, and Wyatt have an equally challenging time ahead adjusting to this new life. Changes in their work schedule and reduced hours will allow for them to focus all their time on Owen and Wyatt and get their boys back together as soon as possible.
The Schneider family is so grateful to have so many family and friends that have already showed up and provided more support, prayers, encouragement, and love then they could possibly imagine.
Asking for additional support is the second to last thing they want to do - watching their baby fight cancer is the first. They are already planning to celebrate Christmas, Owen’s 7th Birthday, and New Years in the hospital.
Any donations made are greatly appreciated and will help the Schneider’s to ensure they can do absolutely anything and everything to get Owen home as soon as possible and make sure Wyatt is taken care of until it is safe for them to return back to work full time.
