Make Soil Sexy Again with Regenerative Ag.

We are on a mission to improve human health and the health of the planet by changing the way food is grown & raised through regenerative agriculture.

Hi everyone! Our names are Ashley and Sarah Armstrong and we are two sisters who’ve decided to drop our career plans, move out to a farm, and become first generation, regenerative, female farmers.

One of the biggest problems we face environmentally is a rapid loss of topsoil due to land mismanagement. We need to start thinking beyond single note dietary changes and instead change the discussion to how food production is impacting the soil since healthier soil is critical for a healthier planet.

We believe this can be accomplished through more and more farmers adopting regenerative practices. You can learn more about the importance of regenerative agriculture from one of our previous YouTube videos here.

We are very passionate about the power of regenerative agriculture, but not enough people are talking about it. By starting our own farm and documenting the entire journey, we desire to educate consumers and farmers on the significance of regenerative agriculture and the importance of supporting it. While we actively speak about regenerative agriculture on Instagram and YouTube @strong.sistas,  that’s not enough.

We desire to create an educational "hub" both at our future farm and online, a place (virtual and in person) where people can come and learn about regenerative agriculture

Since we are first generation farmers, we did not inherit land to farm on, and the unfortunate reality is that the start up costs of starting a regenerative farm from scratch are quite high. We put everything we had into purchasing 22 acres of farm land, but we need your help with other start up costs to support our mission to #MakeSoilSexyAgain

The funds received from the Go Fund Me will allow us to start of the farm by covering the following costs:
- Perimeter fencing
- Seeding
- Purchasing & transporting livestock
- Livestock shelters & infrastructure
- Water system installation
- Freezer and distribution center to be able to ship and pack orders to customers

Here’s a little more background information on where we are at in this farming journey —

In 2020, after Ashley finished her PhD in mechanical engineering from The University of Illinois, we put everything we had into purchasing the land to start our farm. You can see our fields below.

Yes, that is an actual picture of our fields, unedited. On the left, you can see the conventionally farmed soybeans, and on the right is pasture that was left to grow.

This is part of 22 acres we now own in South West Michigan. These fields have very poor soil health due to years of conventional corn and soy crop rotation. Through animal integration and regenerative agriculture principles, we will turn these into beautiful green rolling hills (more of what's on the right), increase the health of the soil and increase carbon sequestration. We have a YouTube video discussing how regenerative agriculture leads to soil sequestration and improved soil health here

At Angel Acres, we promise to

- Treat our animals humanely
- Rebuild top soil
- Grow nutrient dense food
- And educate others to do the same

In 2021, we plan to start our farm operation with pasture raised egg layers and grass fed lambs. We will split up our acres into paddocks and rotate our flock each day. By implementing regenerative agriculture principles and properly managing animals, we can start improving the health of the soil. One acre at a time.

Our long term goal is to make this farm something larger than ourselves, an education hub and destination, where people can come visit and learn about regenerative agriculture. Since, in order for regenerative agriculture to actually make a difference, we need more consumers supporting it and more farmers implementing the practices.

We promise to document the entire journey and along the way we will educate consumers and farmers about regenerative agriculture and why our soil needs it.

We appreciate any and all support, whatever that looks like. Please share this with as many friends and family members as you can.

Here are just a few ways we plan to thank donors:

❤️ Everyone who donates over $100 will receive 10% off their first future order from Angel Acres farm, once in operation.

❤️ Everyone that donates over $300 will have their name engraved into a wooden sign that reads, “Angel Acres made possible by…”

❤️ The top five donators will have a paddock in our fields named after them with a custom made sign. (Ex: today we are moving the animals into the “Honorable Kyle Apsey Paddock”) We will have a running scoreboard with the top 5 donators.

With your donation, you'll help further the mission of regenerative agriculture and help us #MakeSoilSexyAgain
