Hi, my name is Sue. I am a hardworking, responsible person who has worked since I was 14. I was mandatorily retired on 07/24, and this has severely impacted my income and health benefits. Even though I receive SSI and work a part-time job, if I do not work, I do not get paid. This has caused me to be unable to pay large medical bills and get behind on my obligations.
I had stomach surgery on 11/23 and two eye surgeries on 6/24 and 9/25. Emergency surgery with an ambulance rushing me to the hospital for bowel obstruction. My intestine was twisted into a hernia they diagnosed as a Spigelian hernia. I am forever grateful to God, Angels, and trusted ancestors for making me listen to my body and get to the emergency room. The doctors and nurses were all empathetic, dedicated, and got me carefully to the OR for surgery and made my recovery as pleasant as possible.
It is not like me to ask for help. I am stubborn and always want to do everything myself. However, I am single and do not have stable family support. The anxiety and stress of these bills are slowing my recovery. To add, while at the hospital, they noticed my slow heart rate... normal resting HR is 60-100, and mine is 42 and got as low as 38. Concerned about my slow heart rate, I was advised to see a cardiologist. I have an appointment scheduled in a few weeks.
I give and have helped others by donating to Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, Goodwill, Food Pantries, United Way, and my church.
