Stroke Of Genius ride to Byron Bay

My name is Michael Scott.

On June 19, 2013 my wife Chloe and I joyfully welcomed our gorgeous third child, Olive, into the world. Our joy would soon turn to horror, as less than an hour after Olive was born our world turned upside down.

Just after Chloe had finished giving Olive her first feed, her tiny body showed signs of severe distress; Olive had turned limp and went blue. Olive was experiencing what was to be the first of many seizures and was in urgent need of resuscitation.

After an extremely distressing few hours, Olive was airlifted from the Gippsland Base Hospital in Sale to Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital where, after many invasive tests, we were delivered the news; that in the first hour of her life our already much-loved newborn baby had suffered a catastrophic insult to her brain.

Olive had suffered an infantile stroke also known as an intracerebral hemorrhage and in doing so had become one of the youngest stroke victims in Australia.

On ANZAC Day 2015, I will  ride my bike from Sale in Victoria to Byron Bay in New South Wales. I will ride a massive 1600km over 11 days to raise money and awareness for the National Stroke Foundation and honour my beautiful daughter, Olive.

Paving the way to Byron Bay To help fight stroke
