"Stroke Recovery: Supporting a Mom Who’s Always Given Back"

On January 14th, my life took an unexpected and life-altering turn when I suffered a rare spinal cord stroke, something that affects less than 1% of people. Despite having a perfect bill of health, the stroke has left me unable to use my arms and legs. By the grace of God and the quick actions of my doctors, my condition was stabilized before it could worsen.

This tragedy unfolded just days after I laid my beloved grandmother to rest and a week after my mother endured her second stroke. In the face of such profound loss and hardship, the love, prayers, and support I’ve received from so many of you have been a light in my darkest moments.

Before this, I had just started a promising new career at Lush Cosmetics in Chicago, a job that brought me immense joy and helped me support my singing dreams and my family. Unfortunately, I’ve had to step away from this opportunity, leaving me uncertain about how to provide for my three children and pursue the passion that has always been my guiding light—singing.

Singing is more than a gift to me; it’s my legacy, passed down from my grandmother, who always took pride in hearing my voice. It’s also my solace, the thing that makes me feel whole. I hold onto the hope that one day, I’ll sing again and reclaim that piece of myself.
