Stroke leaves Asra's family in need of your help.

Hello, my name is Sarah Kelly and I am asking for your time, attention and care for my dear friend Asra, who has suddenly found her self in a mind bending, financial crisis with her family. I am opening this Go Fund Me on behalf of Asra to try and reduce the mental load for her and her siblings.

I'll keep the story as short as possible but still enabling you to grasp the full picture. Asra's family suffered a great loss of her Father during Covid, leaving their Mum behind in a weakened state of health after a terrible bout of Covid herself. Since his death Mum has also started showing signs of dementia and needs the constant care an attention of her family. And the family has risen to the occasional wonderfully. Asra's sister takes care of Mum on a daily basis in Delhi. Mum spent two months with Asra and family in the Netherlands in July and August and then Asra escorted Mum to Australia to be with her brother for the next 9-12 months. Mum has only been in Australia for a month and has suddenly suffered a terrible, debilitating stroke. She cannot swallow, she cannot speak and she is parlayed down her right side, amongst other health issues caused by the stroke. Luckily (for lack of a better word), she's stabilized now but will need many months of therapy on the road ahead and is still unable to swallow, speak or move her right side.

The Australian healthcare system is telling the family Mum needs to go back to India and they cannot keep her there much longer. They have a three month wait list for therapy and as you can imagine, her healthcare insurance doesn't cover an Australian long term hospital stay.

The family is being quoted costs between 100k and 250k Australian Dollars for a medical transport to safely fly her mother back home to India where she can get the care she needs. To put it into perspective, that's between 60K - 150K in Euros or US $63K to $155K and in Rupees between 5,246,000 and 13,110,000. It feels like an insurmountable amount of money to the family and they are struggling to wrap their heads around how they can do this for their well deserving Mum who needs care sooner rather than later.

I have set the goal of 60K Euros because just in hopes that you understand the greatness and gravity of how much money the family needs. The money goes directly to Asra. Every little bit will help the family feel a small sense of relief and support. One Euro, One Dollar, One Rupee... whatever is in your hearts and pockets to give, may not seem to make a dent in this enormous task ahead but the feeling of community, love and kindness will be felt in any amount.
