We are incredibly proud to share that Jamie has qualified to represent Leinster at the Special Olympics Ireland Games 2026 in bowling. This is an amazing achievement that reflects Jamie's determination, dedication and love for the sport.
Jamie has worked so hard to reach this moment. Through hours of training, commitment and perseverance, he has developed not only his bowling skills but also the confidence and resilience that make him such an inspiration to everyone around him.
Jamie has Down syndrome, but it has never defined or limited what he can achieve. In fact, Jamie continues to show us all that with belief, encouragement and opportunity, anything is possible. His positivity, enthusiasm and never-give-up attitude inspires everyone who knows him.
Being selected to compete in the Special Olympics Ireland Games is a huge honour and a moment of great pride for Jamie, his family and everyone who has supported him along the way. It is a chance for him to represent Leinster, meet other incredible athletes and celebrate everything he has worked so hard for.
However, taking part in the games comes with costs. Jamie needs support to cover the expenses involved in attending the event, including his team kit, accommodation and travel.
We are hoping our community can come together to support Jamie on this incredible journey. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help Jamie get to the Ireland Games and compete with pride.
Your support will not only help with the practical costs, it will also show Jamie just how many people believe in him and are cheering him on.
For his part, Jamie has set himself a personal challenge as part of his journey to the Special Olympics Ireland Games. To improve his fitness and prepare for the competition, he has committed to walking 3,000 steps three days a week. Jamie chose this challenge because walking is something he enjoys however, it can be a struggle for him, it is also great way for him to build his stamina and stay active while preparing for the games.
Jamie will complete this walk around Graiguecullen, from Spar around by St Clare's Church, past the Croppy and back to spar . He would love if people from the community would join him on some of his walks, support him along the way and be part of his journey. We will also be sharing updates and photos from each walk so everyone can follow Jamie’s progress and cheer him on as he works towards representing Leinster at the Special Olympics Ireland Games 2026.
Thank you for helping Jamie take this exciting step and for being part of his journey to the Special Olympics Ireland Games 2026.
Let’s get behind him and Strike for Jamie!
