Miles for Mom : Cancer Research Support

On July 13th, I am embarking on a personal journey in Muncie, Indiana. I have committed to doing an Ironman 70.3 race. The "70.3" refers to the total distance in miles covered in the race, consisting of a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run. But this race isn't just about pushing my physical limits; it's about honoring the memory of my loving mother and continuing her legacy of strength, perseverance, and compassion.

Three years ago, I lost my mom to cancer. She was not only my rock but also an incredible inspiration to all that knew her. She was a beacon of joy, hope, and resilience. Her courage inspired me every day, and now, I'm determined to honor her memory in a meaningful manner.

Growing up, my mom was an avid participant in Relay for Life; a community-based fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. She organized and led a Relay for Life team each year in our hometown, rallying the community together in the fight against cancer. In honor of her remarkable spirit, I have decided to take on this Ironman 70.3. Through this grueling race, I aim to raise both awareness and funds for cancer research, hoping to contribute to the ongoing efforts to find a cure and support those affected on a daily basis by this devastating disease. Every stroke, pedal, and stride I take will be fueled by the loving memories of my mom and the countless others who have been affected by cancer.
