Strichen School Robotics Club is run by Strichen Primary School, and it allows primary 6 and primary 7 pupils the chance to learn how to design, build and code their own robots to compete in competitions across the country, with support from some incredible school staff!
This year we have launched a fundraising team to help fund new equipment, travel costs to allow the teams to attend competitions and registration fees. The children attend the club completely free of charge, and the support from the local community allows them some fantastic opportunities!
In January three teams competed in a regional VexIQ robotics competition and amazingly two of the three teams came first and second in the competition, with the third team also doing incredibly well. This means that two teams have won a place in the National competition in March, with the third team standing a very good chance of also being able to get a space!
As you can imagine, travelling from Strichen to Telford is quite a feat, and requires a couple of nights staying over, on top of travel costs, food costs and potentially extra equipment.
Whilst we’ll be running some local fundraising events, to top up the funds we have already raised, we thought we’d start up a GoFundMe page for people to be able to contribute to should they wish, especially if they can’t get to one of our events.
Thank you so much if you choose to donate - it means the world to the kids, parents and staff to allow them to take part in this amazing opportunity!
