Hi, my name is Laura and I am creating this for Kim Butler. Kim has lived in the Port St John area for the last 42 years. Many have gone to school with her and many others know her from running around Publix as your favorite Instacart lady.
As many have seen on the news and all over the internet on October 31st, 2023 Kim was a victim of a First Degree Attempted Murder. I would like to briefly share her story in hopes that we can, as a community, come together and assist with bills and food since Kim has been in ICU for so many days and now thankfully at home but still unable to work.
Kim had settled into the comfort of her home when an unimaginable horror unfolded. Mr Speers forcibly entered the family's residence. Her daughter, drawn by sounds of struggle, stumbled upon a Mr. Speers strangling her mother. Consumed by rage, he repeatedly left the room and returned with different knifes, inflicting brutal wounds on Kim. Paramedics rushed her by helicopter to a Surgical Intensive Care Unit, where she fought for life during a critical week.
Now back home, Kim faces a challenging road to recovery. The scars, both physical and emotional, prevent her return to work. Though she's not one to seek help, but in this moment, it's crucial. She isn't asking for much—just a small contribution to support her recovery and ensure that essential bills are covered. She lives with her elderly mother and daughter, navigating life on a somewhat fixed income. Your support will make a significant difference during this challenging time, helping her focus on healing without the added burden of financial stress.
