Dear Friends and Family,
I am reaching out with a heavy heart to share some difficult news about my brother, Anthony Spadola. After months of grappling with health issues and undergoing weeks' worth of medical tests, Anthony has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This diagnosis has been a shock to all, but Anthony is facing this challenge with an admirable amount of courage and determination to which is no surprise for any of us!
Anthony has already begun his treatment journey, with his first patient visit at Sloan Kettering in West Harrison on March 26th. His chemotherapy treatment is scheduled to start on Tuesday, April 9th, and is expected to last anywhere between 6-8 months. In the meantime, he is currently on steroids and antibiotics to alleviate the agonizing pain throughout his upper body which has been disrupting his day-to-day for months now.
To know Anthony, is to love him and if you do, you're pretty lucky to have him in your life OR to have had him in your life at some point or another. As his sister, I can personally attest to his kind-hearted and driven character. He is one of the most selfless men I have ever known, always placing the needs of others above his. He is hardworking, diligent and puts so much creativity in all of the work he does. However, it is beyond disheartening to witness him unable to work, indulge in his passion for golf, or spend quality time with friends and family due to his health condition and the pain he experiences daily.
While Anthony has a tremendous network of support behind him, I know he, himself would never ask for help and if roles were reversed he would do anything and everything he possibly could for those he cares about.
It's our turn now to rally together and support him during this challenging time. The upcoming months will be mentally and physically draining and we want to make sure he can focus on his treatment without worrying about financial stress or day-to-day necessities.
If you find it within your means to extend a helping hand, whether it be through assisting with bills, providing nourishing meals, offering a sympathetic ear, or most importantly some laughter it would mean the world to Anthony and our entire family. Your support and love during this time will give him the strength he needs to fight this awful disease with unwavering determination.
Thank you for keeping Anthony in your thoughts and prayers as he begins this journey. Together, we have the power to make a meaningful difference in his life and demonstrate the depth of our love, care and support.
With gratitude,
Janine Spadola
