Strength in Unity: Help Kristy Conquer Breast Cancer

Dear friends and family,

I’m reaching out to share some difficult news: Our dear friend, sibling, relative, and dedicated business owner, Kristy Bauer, has been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. It’s a diagnosis no one ever wants to hear, and Kristy is now stepping into a demanding season that will require her complete focus—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

About a month ago, she felt a lump and her primary care doctor recommended a mammogram and an ultrasound to get it checked out (thank god for you, Heidi). The screening confirmed it was cancer, that it was triple negative and we just found out that it may be in an earlier stage as they believe it started a couple months ago. There is one node affected but we're awaiting testing results to confirm if any other nodes are affected or if there is any additional spread throughout her body. Please pray that there's no spread and that it's very localized.

Our family has been through so much in recent years; From Kristy battling a severe case of West Nile, to Matix battling severe meningitis, and then the loss of our dad who was always our backbone, it's been a very hard few years.

Kristy is a loving wife to Jeremy, who will continue working full-time, and a devoted mother to their two boys, Axton and Matix. If you know Kristy, you know that she’s always been someone who puts others first, whether in her home life, in her personal relationships or through her coaching; And isn't one to ask for anything in return.

Now, it’s our opportunity to rally around her and her family, letting them know they won't have to face this alone.

Why She Needs Our Support:

1. Medical Expenses

Even with insurance, there are still significant out-of-pocket costs—deductibles, copays, and specialized treatments that may not be fully covered. These add up quickly.

2. Nutrition and Specialized Diet

Maintaining a healthy, nutrient-rich diet is essential for Kristy’s healing journey, but purchasing quality foods can become expensive over time.

3. Housekeeping and Family Care

With Jeremy’s full-time job and two energetic boys at home, they’ll need help with everyday tasks—cleaning, cooking, and caring for Axton and Matix—so Kristy can focus on recovering and healing.

4. Business Coverage

Kristy’s passion for coaching and fitness has been a cornerstone of her life. While she steps back to prioritize her health, she’ll need financial help to aide in coaches running classes for her and keep her business running smoothly.

5. Unforeseen Costs

Life doesn’t pause for cancer treatment. Unexpected bills, additional therapies, and travel for medical appointments may arise. The family could use a safety net to handle these surprises without added stress.

Our Collective Role:

Many of us have faced cancer personally or walked alongside someone dear battling it. We know it can be exhausting—physically, mentally, and financially. This is our chance to show Kristy and Jeremy that they’re backed by a supportive community. Even small acts of kindness can bring tremendous relief and peace of mind.

A few amazing ladies from KJ Crossfit set up a google form for anyone that would like to volunteer to help the Bauers in other ways. They will then create a binder with all of the volunteers to make for easy access if the need arises for Kristy or Jeremy.
