As many of you know, 15-year-old Layla Stanley recently underwent a life-changing surgery at the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax. In the last week, Layla began experiencing serious complications affecting her breathing and the surgical site. She now faces a critical infection and must undergo the same major surgery once again to determine what’s happening in her trachea.

Layla will remain in critical condition in the ICU following surgery, with no clear recovery timeline.

Her parents, Jerry and Cheryl, are now living every parent's worst nightmare. They are staying by Layla’s side around the clock, along with their incredible partners Courtney and Dylan, all while being off work with no income and facing mounting expenses for travel, accommodations, and everyday needs in Halifax.

For those who know Jerry, you know how deeply he loves his children—his family is his entire world. Jerry is known in the community for his business, JCL Construction, and for always being the first to lend a hand. Cheryl, a compassionate and dedicated nurse, is just as selfless and strong. But they are not the kind to ask for help.

That’s why we’re asking for them.

Let’s rally around the Stanley family during this incredibly difficult time and help ease the financial burden they are facing so they can focus fully on what matters most—Layla’s healing and comfort.
