In December, the lives of Michael, Kate, and two year old son Kaleb, were profoundly changed when Kate was diagnosed with an aggressive liver cancer for which traditional treatment is only marginally effective. What began as an urgent care visit for shortness of breath escalated to a four-day inpatient stay over Christmas - and ultimately, a cancer diagnosis with an urgent need to find a viable and effective treatment.
This week Kate and her family are traveling to Envita Medical Center in Arizona for a 16-week intensive treatment program. This course of care includes advanced imaging and diagnostics, procedures, medications, and ongoing specialist care.
The goal right now is simple but critical - to fight this disease with everything available and to find a viable treatment with the best possible chance to work.
Although Kate and Michael have health insurance, it comes with a high deductible and the treatment program is not covered. The initial inpatient stay and diagnostic testing have already created a financial burden, and the upcoming expenses are substantial - medical bills, prescriptions, daily appointments, travel, time away from work. All of this is unfolding while Kate is coping with profound fatigue and weakness and while both are doing all they can to care for their Kaleb during this difficult and stressful time.
The total expected cost of Kate's treatment is approximately $145,000 (~$36,000 per month). This initial $72,000 goal will help cover the initial critical phase of care so treatment can begin without delay.
They are deeply grateful that their housing costs are already covered for the 16-week treatment course.
Every donation - no matter the amount - makes a meaningful difference. Your support helps relieve the financial strain so Kate and Michael can focus on what matters now: treatment, strength, and healing, and being present for Kaleb.

Thank you for taking the time to read. Kate and Michael are endlessly grateful for every prayer, message, share, kindness, and act of generosity during this incredibly challenging time.
“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”
-2 Corinthians 4:16-18
