I'm Cynthia Harvey and I'm starting this for Gene Harvey, my best friend and shelling partner!! Gene's been in the hospital more than he's been out these last 4 months with pneumonia, difficulty breathing, a collapsed lung, etc., and he is still there as I write this. He is currently in Palms West in Loxahatchee. After being in the emergency room for over 24 hours, he was finally given a room yesterday evening. He is on fluids, broad-spectrum antibiotics, "BIG TOUGH" steroids, along with strong pain meds to help keep him comfortable. He is in good spirits, so that is a blessing! His oncologist told us 1/7/26 that he has 6 +/- months left to live; POSSIBLY 2-3 more if he does some intense radiation, that works and then he participates in some clinical trials in Orlando! The oncologist that he's been trying to see, Seetal Mewar, was actually on call here yesterday, and a PA from that office, HOAPB - Hematology Oncology Associates of the Palm Beaches - stopped by and spoke with us. Dr. Mewar was rounding later & told Gene she was going to take a look at his scans and get back with him with a second opinion. Whatever that second opinion is, we are trusting that God is in control from beginning to end! We will continue to praise Him in this storm that has been raging since February of 2024! We are also discussing looking into Moffitt, Mayo, Cleveland Clinic, etc., but from what I'm reading, there is a process and lots of insurance hurdles to jump. Either way, something more will be started today with this new oncologist or a cancer center! Pray for strength for me, favor with the insurance company, and the doctor.
