With Kaili and Lenah’s permission, I’m sharing this during an incredibly difficult time for their family.

After about two weeks in San Diego and still no definite answers, their son Berkeley was hospitalized following a severe and unexpected reaction to the flu. Doctors are continuing to work to understand what is happening, and the length of his hospital stay remains unknown. The family is taking things day by day.

Kaili will remain in San Diego with Berkeley and is unable to work. This Sunday, Lenah will return to Texas for the second time this week with their younger son, Victor, to restore routine and stability after a very traumatic experience for him and time away from his brother. When possible, Lenah will travel back to San Diego so both boys can continue to feel supported by both moms.

Being split between states while caring for a hospitalized child brings many added expenses and logistical challenges with last minute travel, meals while staying at the hospital, transportation, time away from work, and ongoing medical needs. Any support shared is deeply appreciated and helps allow Kaili and Lenah to stay focused on being present for their boys.
