My name is Reverend Harry Williams, and I am a minister/social justice activist residing in Oakland, California. As a minister, my life is full when I can bring hope and resources to those living on the margins of our society.
Recently, I completed this book, "Street Cred: A Hood Minister's Guide to Urban Ministry." Inspired by a disconnect I noticed between the local church and the inner city comunity, I wanted to give a break down of the social problems that have morphed into crises in the past 10 years as well as some easy-to-institute solutions. There is no other book with the in-depth urban insight that this manual offers. It contains interviews with not only theologians but gang shot callers and world-famous hip-hop artists.
My desire is to get this work into the hands of pastors, activists and community leaders seeking new concepts on how to create relevant ministry. This book is for the church that is hemorrhaging members and knows not what to do. "Street Cred" is a wake-up call to churches who ignore the poor who right outside their doors. This book will resurrect churches as well as lost lives.
Simply put, in the next 3 weeks, I need to raise $2,000 to print 400 copies and do some basic marketing.
