My name is Luisa Velez. I have moved to Nicaragua five months ago. It has been an amazing journey living in such a beautiful country. From living in the U.S. for most of my life, it was rare to see abandoned animals roaming the streets. However, since moving here to Nicaragua, I have never seen so many homeless dogs hungry prowling the streets searching for food. Most the dogs I have witnessed here sustain on pure garbage left in the streets. Seeing so many hungry, abandoned, sick and homeless dogs daily has left me heart broken. Since arriving to Nicaragua I started feeding the homeless dogs in my neighborhood, but I feel that it’s not enough. I want to do something more to help these animals in need. My goal for this fundraiser is not only to feed the homeless dogs, but to also neuter them, provide some medical care, and eventually some of them new homes through adoption. Neutering them is the most humane way to systemically decrease the amount of street dogs, while simultaneously doing what we can to provide these animals a better quality of life. I have teamed up with a local vet, who on his free time provides treatment to these homeless dogs he encounters free of charge but is strained when it comes to financial resources to purchase the necessary medicine and supplies. Nicaragua is a very poor country, and what ever contribution is made will go a long way. Although the goal is not to save every homeless dog in Managua, with two thousand dollars, I can transform the lives of hundreds of dogs.                                                                                        Hola, mi nombre es Luisa Velez y hace un tiempo me radique en Nicaragua, a sido una experiencia inolvidable porque es un país maravilloso que me acogió de la mejor manera, anteriormente vivía en Estados unidos y nunca había tenido que experimentar Ver tantos perritos en las calles, al igual que en mi país Colombia creo que esta problemática con el pasar del tiempo se ha vuelto normal pero no dejan de partirnos el corazón a algunos que sentimos tanto amor por los animales, por eso en este caso quiero que unamos fuerzas y me ayuden a cambiarle la vida a ellos que tanto nos necesitan
