Street cats and kittens of Crete

Hi everyone,

We are Adam and Bethany, a married couple from the UK who spend our 'holidays' rescuing cats.

After our wedding last week we took a trip over to Chania where we found a mama cat, who we'd actually seen 18 months ago, with a permanent eye issue, but this time she had 4 kittens...not only that, she's pregnant again.

3 of the kittens have eye issues, the worst being the one you see in the photo.

We did our best to rescue the kitten without a a trap but we were unsuccessful.

We made contact with Lida, a fantastic and selfless rescuer, who rescued our own Chania kitten from our last trip, and she was able to trap the kitten.

We knew we couldn't leave the other kittens, plus the pregnant mama cat, so we asked her to rescue them all, and we would make sure the costs for vet treatment and fostering were covered.

The situation in Chania is dire. There are too many cats, and not enough people willing to open their homes to them.
