Stray Pup Hit By Car - Needs Emergency Surgery
Donation protected
On 4/3/24, I found a tiny pup who seemed to be in pain in Van Nuys. He was limping and whimpering but still so friendly and sweet to my dogs. I took him to get scanned for a chip and he doesn't have one. He hasn't been fixed and is very skinny (6 lbs). We went to the vet immediately and got X-rays done to see what was wrong. They think the little guy got hit by a car and broke his femur. They gave me pain meds for him, I took him home, and he cried the most painful cries all day and night, even with the pain meds. He would only calm down if he was held in your arms.
I took him to the East Valley Animal Shelter this morning to get him into a program called STAR that reaches out to rescues and organizations for medical emergencies. At the end of the day, they let me know that not a single person or rescue had contacted them.
The vet said that if his injury started to heal, they would have to break it again, and the surgery would be even more expensive and traumatic. I got a quote from a low-cost animal surgeon (Kinder4Rescue), and they estimate it starting at 3k.
I figured I would try to reach out and see if it's possible to get this little guy fixed ourselves so he doesn't have to wait days or weeks in severe pain. We can personally foster him after his surgery through his entire recovery.
It's a difficult time, and everything is expensive, so this is mostly for the peeps who have disposable income and a gentle heart for our furry babies or rescues who can provide any sort of assistance.
