UPDATE: WE HAVE REACHED OUR GOAL!! THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR DONATING, SHARING, AND CARING ABOUT THIS LITTLE GIRL. ONCE SHE IS ALL HEALED UP WE WILL BE POSTING HER UP FOR ADOPTION. HER FUREVER HOME WILK BE VERY LUCKY TO HAVE HER HEALTHY AND ALIVE!
I found this kitten in my yard a few days ago with a mass protruding from the side of her rib cage. I took her to the vet and they said it looked like she was attacked by a larger animal and had matching puncture wounds on both sides of her rib cage. There has been a big rise in raccoon activity in the area lately: Raccoons killing animals so I assume it was a raccoon attack.
One puncture wound resulted in a diaphragmatic hernia that is now it's allowing fluids from other parts of her body to put pressure on her lungs so now she's struggling to breathe and is low on oxygen. After calling around we found a vet with a reasonable surgery fee and even though we don't plan on keeping the kitten we would still like to save her life and find her a forever home.
