Stray Cat Rescue Journey
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Tashani Cardwell and for the last 5 years living in Georgia (Carrollton & Atlanta), I have encountered an abundance of stray cats. Whether it be on school campus housing or apartment complexes, personal resources have been used to either foster or re-home multiple litters even through the current period of inflation. As prices continue to rise, it has been difficult to maintain feeding schedules and the time previously spent on finding new homes has now been reduced. Due to county zoning laws and shelter requirements, the animals I come across are often refused entry into local shelters or have already been through the TNR process; ultimately making them ineligible to return. The restrictions and county expectations perpetuates a vicious cycle of stray cats continuing to overpopulate their areas, leaving the ecosystem unbalanced. If the cats are captured however, they are often spayed and sent back into the wild; lowering their chances of survival. As we begin to transition into winter, current strays like Chip and Jinx are in need of an enclosed area to stay warm and/or tools such as heating pads/blankets. Using certain heating apparatus would also decrease the amount of injuries and deaths stray cats face from using car engines as a place of warmth over night. Therefore, any donation would be an appreciated first step to making a change by preventing unnecessary injuries.
