I am setting up this Go Fund Me account on behalf of an extremely deserving family who is very near and dear to me and to so many others; the Straus Family.
Tom and Diane have two wonderful adult children (both married) and three amazing grandchildren. In early 2016, Tom was diagnosed with ALS (a/k/a Lou Gehrig's disease). For those who are not familiar with the disease, there is no current cure; medication and therapy can help slow the progression.
The Straus family has always been close and this unfortunate news only made them closer and stronger. They are incredibly tough and have remained as positive as possible.... they take it one day at a time. As time goes on, more "needs" are required to help with the day to day care of Tom. They are in the process of getting a wheel chair that fits Tom's needs and most recently are in need of daily care while Diane is at work. The cost of daily care and the wheel chair are the primary objective for the donations.
Family and friends have rallied around them; however, the costs are starting to add up and anything that can be done to eliminate or help the financial burden would be GREATLY appreciated. Whether you are family, friends, acquaintance's of the family, or complete strangers.... any amount donated, big or small will go a long way. At the very least, please "share" this post and keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
On a personal note and directly to the Straus Family - You mean so much to me and others. Your entire family makes others feel like we are part of your own.... you are kind, you are compassionate, you are thoughtful, you are selfless, and the list could go on and on. Just know that you are loved by so many.
I/We would like to thank the ALS community, whether it be the ALS Association or a person living with or touched by this disease; for your support and encouragement as the Straus Family tackles this disease...albeit ALWAYS with a smile.
